The Department provides teaching of courses at graduate level: Microbiology and Parasitology, Applied Microbiology, Diagnostics and Therapy of Viral infections and Epidemiology Basics & Microbial Identification as well as several courses in PhD programme (Pharmaceutical Biochemical Sciences) and Postgraduate Specialist Studies. Scientific research of the stuff is separated in two groups: mycotoxin-related studies (leader Maja Šegvić Klarić) and modulation of fungal virulence (leader Ivan Kosalec). Offices and laboratories of the Department are located in Schrottova ul. 39 (1st floor). Department maintain and exchange the Collection of Microbial Species (bacteria, yeasts, molds, dermatophytes) from environmental and clinical sources.
